Consideration

The following occurrences are often overlooked, but have been proven to have the potential to affect mental health: 

  • Brain/head injuries; falls, concussions, any head injury or car accidents

  • Chronic headaches

  • Difficult birth (in birth canal for extended time or delivered with forceps)

  • Childhood meningitis

  • Vaccines administered and any reactions

  • Side effects to meds

  • Vitamin D deficiency

  • Folic acid deficiency

  • Genetic mutation

  • Hormone levels

  • Bullied repeatedly (including cyber-bullying)

  • Traumatic experiences (abusive relationships, grief, frequent moves, sickness, an accident, etc.) 

  

These sometimes overlooked behaviors may indicate a problem with mental health:

  • Compulsive habits

  • Constant complaining of stomachaches or just “not feeling well”

  • Going to the bathroom immediately after a meal

  • Obsession with social media and “likes”; approval

  • Twitching

  • Trouble sleeping
